what you need to know

The studio is intended for independent use by artists who have ceramic experience. We offer classes for beginners if you are interested in using the pottery studio independently.

We have studio tools for use if you don't have your own, as well as approximately 8-12 house glazes available. If you prefer to use your own glazes, they should be in their original containers, and should be approved by the studio.

Please bring your own apron and towel. We don’t have communal ones available anymore.

We have a regular firings in our large 16.5 cubic foot electric kiln. We ask our artists to maintain standard studio practices to limit the possibility of kiln accidents. The Art Establishment cannot be held responsible for any pieces which become damaged in the firing process.

We have 3 stoneware clay bodies to choose from for purchase: a versatile clay from Laguna, gray color when wet and Light Buff when fired, a brown speckle clay, and white clay, which is smooth to throw with and shows off the glazes beautifully. All are Cone 6. We do not fire outside clay or pieces made outside of the studio using our clay.

Any clay or works in progress/fired pieces left in the studio longer than 60 days will be discarded or become studio property.

No production pottery permitted.
